I am trying to set up a wireless connection and have been advised to turn off my anti virus software

I have CA security centre and there is no option to just disable it. Do I have to uninstall it totally and then reinstall it again after?

You should never need to turn off your AV software just to connect to a wireless network. If you have Windows then you need to get to your network connections window. To get there click on the start menu, then click on run. Once it opens type "ncpa.cpl" (without quotes). Then the network connections window should open. In that window you should have an icon for your wireless device, it will tell you if it is turned on (sometimes you have to turn it on, it won't turn on when you start your computer) Otherwise, you can right click on it and choose connect, and if there is a wirless network in the area, like say your home, then it will connect to it.

If it doesn't connect to a network, then you are going to have to find a wireless network. You are going to want to right click on the wireless icon again, and this time choose "view avalible wireless networks". This will bring up a list of all the wireless networks. You will want to choose your home network, or find the name of the network that you are trying to connect to and then hit connect. This should automatically connect you to the network.

Since you don't have to install any software (other than the driver if you added the wireless adapter), you don;t have to shut off your anti-virus. Just let Windows set up the card, view the available networks, select yours and connect to it.
good luck with that. some viruses trick you into doing this to send you a virus, spyware, malware, etc....

only trust if you have done this before....
