Anti Virus and Anti "Bad Stuff".... Which one to pick???

I'm a bit of a begginer when it comes to a computer, so I need to know which ant "bad stuf" is bes the use.

I heard that Norton Anti Virus was pretty cruddy, so I don't know any other anti virus software that will protect well. Also, what spyware and adware software is good?

Also, please give price, and remember, I can't get anything too expensive.

Prices change everywhere. For instance, you can download Norton Anti-virus from the manufacturer's website and pay FULL PRICE for the basic version. Or go to STAPLES and buy the DISK at a fraction of that price; then use the REBATE and get MOST of your money BACK.

I do recommend the PLAIN version of Norton Anti-virus. Buy the disk at Staples. (Then you have the disk for reinstallation, if something goes wrong).

Many Anti-virus packages are good. Visit http://www.cnet.com and look at the RATINGS. Then look at the prices. Many of these will be ON SALE at Stapes. I always recommend that you BUY THE DISK, instead of Download. You really need the disk.

Windows comes with a Firewall. Configure that through the Control Panel, and pay attention.

For free, go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search %26 Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
