I think i got a virus that keeps causing anti-virus software to pop up on screen. also, when i am working in a window it randomly becomes deselected. i have seen these symptoms before and i am wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem.

I agree with super-antispyware. I also Use Ad-aware and Spybot Search %26 Destroy. Both are free and I use them at work to clean other people's mistakes... i mean computers. :)
And if you still need an Anti-virus program use AVG. Its free and as reliable as Symantic.
Get a real antivirus... NOD32, Kaspersky etc...
