Vista IS a virus. Use XP ( better yet, use W2000pro ) and AVG from Grisoft...
My vista came with norton which I hate. I have always loved and always used zonealarm and avg. Since I already had zonealarm on another computer they sold me a vista version for $20. It is complete with spyware, virus, and firewall. And in my opinion far superior to norton. It uses far less resources and won't slow your computer down like norton. And I get far less "blocking" errors with zonealarm. Good luck with your choice.

P.s. I have also used mcafee, found the same problem as norton. Eating up all my resources and ram.

Norton or Mcaffee both have vista compatable versions that work pretty well. Vista itself has an antivirus built in, it isn't the best but its better than nothing.
I would stay AWAY from Norton and McAffee. Kaspersky is the best thing available right now. Weird name, but bear with me. It's a really good program that comes from a virus research company, and hence has very good protection for your computer.
