Computer wont run game while anti virus is scaning do i need a faster processor or motherboard?

hi

i currently have call of duty 2 and it runs and loads pretty perfect but when my anti virus software trend micro is scanning for viruses it tries to load but just wont the computer also runs other applications very slow too so i want to know if any thinng can make it actually work while trend micro is scaning i first thought ram but ikinda ruled it out as we have 2 gb so next i was thinking maybe the cpu as ours is quite old now its an intel pentium 4 3.07 ghz and finnaly i was thinking maybe the motherboard cause its kinda old now too its and agp with a 800 mhz fsb (front side bus) so help please any suggestions

Upgrade to at least the 7000 series nvidia card and up ur onboard mem to 2Gb.

Open the options panel in ur virus scanner and schedule it to run only when ur not using the machine i.e. Leave it to run overnight + defrag the hard drive as well.You can also open the antivirus program and tell it to stop/cancel scanning until you've finished ur game.Then restart the scan when ur not using the comp.

I've :-

AMD Athlon 64 X2 (X2 = dual core)6000+(6000+=each core running at just over 3.0Ghz)

nVidia 8600 gts 512 Gfx and 2.0Gb on board mem.Fsb oc'd to just under 1Ghz.

If I run antivirus scanning while using the onboard resources it will take for ever.Which is also why I set aside the once a week update of all protection systems and clean up utilities to run when i know I will not need them.(system resources that is).All antivirus programs need access to ur hard drive and enough memory to use (Picture this:- The anti virus program needs to check ur files,and the easiest way for it to do so is to read files from ur hard disk and place them in memory(ram)this is why extra ram helps a lot.Meanwhile ur playing a resource depleting game that also requires ram and hard drive space so you end up with a conflict.The cpu tries to allocate as much as it can to both an therefore each slows down accordingly.Even though I have a dual core system,there are not many programs designed to utilise the full potential of those features.So turn off the antivirus scanning while playing and turn it back on after finishing.(WARNING THIS DOES NOT MEAN TURN IT OFF WHILE SURFING THE WEB/PLAYING ONLINE GAMES).P.S. MAKE SURE U HAVE A FIREWALL INSTALLED AND RUNNING.
