How can I eliminate spyware and pop ups that are being created by the software companies selling ant

I refuse to buy anti spyware to eliminate spyware problems. These companies are criminal in that they are embedding virus,trojan popups etc and then offer to sell a solution to eliminate the havoc they have created.

I want a free ware solution that works. Any suggestions?

Try Spybot, which can be found at:

This is totally free and removes most spyware from your computer. Another suggestion is to use Mozilla Firefox (www.mozilla.com) instead of Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is easily exploited, Firefox is more secure.
Whichever OS i'm on, I never use any anti-virus programs and rarely use a firewall (although i'm usually behind a router.)
