I'm assuming this is FreeAVG? The pay-for one is a bit more customizable, but not significantly. Anyway, right-click the AVG icon in systray, and Launch Control Center. Select the Scheduler module, and at the lower right of the program window (odd place I know) is a Scheduled Tasks button (next to Properties). Open that, then select each schedule in turn, hit Edit Schedule, and finally you can turn off the Periodically blah blah blah. Now it will sit there and wait til you tell it other wise. Get the impression they really don't want you to do that???
