Products made by Trend Micro, McAfee, and Norton are some of the top rated anti-virus programs available.

Personally, I use AVG Free edition, which I also think is very good, and doesn't cost anything for home use. If you want something paid, one of the above is a good choice.

My company uses Trend Micro, and we've been pretty happy with them.

the best one out there would be NOD32 but in the freeware category, you can try AVG Free..

I like AVG but Avast is very good also. Both work good on older systems (P-III).
Like Acklan said above - I've used many different anti-viruses over the years and the one I'm using now is AVG - Free Version (Yep - it doesn't cost you a penny!) It automatically updates itself, almost everyday. You can also schedule automatic system scans so that they occur while you're at work or when you're sleeping.
